Okay, so his tongue might be 3 times larger than his body. LOL We thought this was a cute picture which was taken right after a really long workout of retreiving and keep away. It looks like he has had enough, doesn't it? Even with all of his shedding his coat stays as shiney as can be. I hope he keeps this trait as our last rott had coat issues the last couple of years of his life and always looked horrible. We are switching him to adult Eagle Pack Holistic as soon as he runs low on his last bag of puppy food. Of course we will mix the two types in the beginning for a smooth transaction. Why? I am not sure as this idiot is a non stop eating disaster. We have to watch him as he would eat a log or a bale of hay just for kicks. Sometimes you can see on his face he isn't enjoying it, he just does it. Oh, the life of a dog.
Sorry to anybody that actually comes to this site to watch Gus grow up but to be honest it has been a slow couple of months. Gus's growth has slowed way down and at 10 months old he is 80 pounds. He is still a ball of fire and quite handfull at times. He started shedding what seems like a month ago and has not slowed down yet! (SIGH) He does really well in the house and does not have to be put up in his cage anymore. HOWEVER, after a few months he did have a brain fart and decided to eat his very expensive dog bed. (see picture of bed below) This was quite troubling after our towel incident but he was really drawn to the inside filling which fortunatley went through him. So much for buying a "chew proof" bed but the good news is the company will refund our money and Ol dimwit gets to sleep on the cold tile floor. I hope he is happy. It was weird how he left it alone for so long and decided it was time for a modification. After showing him the errors of his way I placed the bed down and he started to chew it again right in front of me! After another quick go around the bed was taken away for good. He is quite skinny and is as fast as any Rott I have ever owned. At some point I look for him to fill out some and that will sure slow him down. We feel he is a very handsome boy at this point but still has some growing pains yet to endure.
