Our little boy in pigtails!

Poor Gus, the things he has to go through to keep all of his "equipment". The tape job doesn't hurt him but at first it sure bugged the heck out of him. The tape has to stay on for two days and hopefully his ears lay down the way they should. Hopefuully for both of us this works as I hate to see him this way.

14 Weeks and 30 Pounds

Here our boy is showing off a very pretty sit/stay command. I wish I could say he was staring only at me, waiting on his next command but he is staring at his tennis ball hoping like heck this lesson is over. He now is pretty good healing on leash, auto sit, sit on command and coming...all on leash. However, some days are much, much better than others!

I would just be tickled to death with this guy if not for his frikken ears. I am afraid on a windy day he will fly away!! LOL   He is the first Rott I have ever had to have this problem. However, with some research I have found this isn't all that uncommon of a problem in Rotts.....even in really good breedings and the good news is it can be taken care of by taping his ears. Gus was not for this at all until I mentioned not only will no one want to breed to a dog with deplorable ears but he will get neutured ASAP!! He now cannot wait to get this little problem fixed.

12 weeks and 24 pounds!!!

OK, this is where rottie pups start driving me nuts. As Gus continues incredible growth spurts the looks you get day to day drive me nuts. I worry his muzzle is too long or his legs are too long for the body. How are his bite and hips doing? Blah, Blah, Blah. I cannot help it....I always want the perfect dog in looks and work but all I can do is wait until about 18 months to see what I am going to get. The very hard, cold truth is there are no perfect dogs, but a person can always try and hope, right? Work wise is my problem....if he isn't a good dog in that regard I can look in the mirror to blame someone. He is healing and doing an auto sit pretty well at this point so we are going in the right direction. He is still a baby and likes keeping me busy with his wanton desire to cause havoc!!!

Gus at 12 weeks old

Here he is looking for a treat. Gus now weighs in at 24 pounds and growing like a weed.
